The Greenville Zoo is presenting its yearly “Holidays at the Zoo” event, transforming into a festive destination. This five-year tradition offers a memorable experience with bright lights, seasonal decorations, and cheerful music, capturing the holiday spirit for the community.
Visitors can enter a world illuminated by thousands of lights along the zoo’s paths. The atmosphere is immersive, with impressive light displays accompanied by holiday music. This year features two notable light tunnels, including one that synchronizes with the music, providing an interactive and enjoyable experience. It’s an opportunity to see the Greenville Zoo in a new, illuminated way.
On certain nights, attendees can meet Santa Claus and share holiday wishes. Warm beverages and snacks, such as hot chocolate, will be available for purchase, adding to the cozy atmosphere on cool evenings.
The light show runs from December 12th to 14th, December 18th to 23rd, December 26th to 30th, and January 2nd and 3rd. The event is open from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. each night, with the last entry at 8 p.m. and the event concluding at 9 p.m.
To ensure a smooth and cost-effective visit, purchasing tickets online beforehand is advised. Online prices are $12 for adults and $9 for children who are zoo members, and $14 for adults and $11 for children who are not members. Tickets bought at the gate will have an additional $2 charge per ticket. Buying online saves money and guarantees entry, as tickets are for single use.
Since most of the event takes place outdoors, dressing warmly is essential. Bringing jackets, hats, and gloves will help ensure comfort while exploring the zoo after dark. Arriving near sunset allows for the best viewing of the lights as they begin to illuminate. Restrooms are located near the concession area. Play areas will be closed, but the light displays offer entertainment.
Strollers are welcome to assist younger visitors. For the well-being of the animals and guests, pets are not allowed during “Holidays at the Zoo.” While many animals will be resting, some nocturnal creatures or birds might be visible.
