Greenville, SC Community

Project Host is a vital organization dedicated to fostering a more robust and healthy community within the greater Greenville area. We recognize that many of our neighbors face daily difficulties in obtaining sufficient food. Project Host offers a caring solution, providing immediate help for hunger and developing lasting strategies that enable individuals and families to succeed. Our work extends beyond providing meals; it aims to cultivate a feeling of inclusion and generate chances for all to flourish.

Our core purpose is built on the conviction that everyone should have access to food and the possibility to create a better life. In Greenville, the lack of food security can impact anyone, from the youngest to the oldest, and Project Host is actively working to create significant positive change. We are a center of action, driven by committed employees, volunteers, and community backing, all collaborating to guarantee that no one in our community experiences hunger. We are pleased to be a part of Greenville’s structure, supporting its welfare through consistent provision of meals and opportunities.

Project Host employs a comprehensive strategy to address hunger and its fundamental origins. Our Soup Kitchen is a primary service, providing an average of 40,000 free meals annually to those requiring assistance. For our younger community members, the Cooking for Kids initiative ensures that children receive close to 40,000 healthy meals each year, supplying them with the energy necessary for learning and development. Understanding that some individuals cannot come to us, our HostMobile Food Outreach service delivers essential food directly to people, distributing an average of 300 free meals each week.

In addition to immediate meal provisions, Project Host is dedicated to enhancing individual capabilities through training. The CC Pearce Culinary School has offered significant support since 2003, delivering thorough culinary education and preparing over 200 individuals with the abilities required for stable jobs in the food sector. Additionally, our Gardening for Good initiative not only supplies fresh, wholesome produce but also offers practical learning, producing around 2,000 pounds of food each year. These initiatives work together to address both the immediate effects and the underlying causes of food insecurity in our community.
